Looking to Web 2.0

I did't hear about Web 2.0 too much. But now I have read something about it. Very intresting, but I can't understand how social services like YouTube make money? Why Google Inc. bougth it?

That's exactly the same question i'm wondering! why buy youtube and all such free services? they seem to have no usual ads.
